Background of the Saga
The Land of Purthia and Its Kings
Since the beginning of recorded history, Purthia was ruled by a line of kings that spanned hundreds and hundreds of years. The monarchy had always been fair and viewed the citizens of the land as equal. Even though Purthia was filled with creatures of all sorts, including everything from yeti to goblin and from Minotaur to human, the laws of the king were set in place to bring order and peace to a land rich in culture, as well as history.
To enforce theses laws, as well as protect the vast land and its citizens, the king maintained a powerful army that was full of some of the most skilled warriors ever known. This army kept the peace for many generations and although it involved itself in conflict and battles from time to time, the land of Purthia, for the most part, was a land of peace.
Yet, despite this fact, there were also forces throughout the land that despised the monarchy. They hated the rule of the kings, for to them, it only meant subjugation from the attainment of real power. But to act against the king and his army was suicide. So the dissidence would remain in the shadows until the time was right. . .
Areas of Purthia
(Some places that you'll visit on your journey through The Lost Kingdom Saga)
The Great Northlands - dominated by its wretched weather. Two species are dominant to this area. They include the fearsome yeti and the Great Northern Tribes, a collection of powerful and proud human beings.
The Andazi Wilderness - an area that lies adjacent to and just South of the Great Northlands. It is an isolated area of Purthia known for its dead land and little to no life.
The Desert of Nanakirk - the other end of the weather extreme as opposed to the Great Northlands. This area is dominated by heat and lack of cover from things such as the sweltering sun and ferocious sand storms. The desert itself spans much of central - eastern Purthia and is populated by tribes of human beings that have scattered themselves all across the desert. For sustenance, the desert tribes rely heavily on trade with areas beyond the desert, but this relationship has proven to be one that has come back to haunt them.
The Land of Ood - desolate, rocky landscape full of fissures that emit eerie trails of steam into the air. Although devoid of many humanoid creatures, this area of Purthia is not without habitation. The Land of Ood is well known throughout Purthia's populace as an area of the land that contains a large variety of horrendous dragons.
The King's Castle - located in the very heart of Purthia, this imposing structure rests upon a small hilltop which overlooks a tremendous valley below. Among other things, the castle contains the king's armory (an impressive collection of weaponry of all sorts) and the king's treasury (full of riches collected from eons past). Inside the cavernous structure, decorations of all kinds can be found and although it had once been a grand place to behold, it has recently fallen on some terrible times.
Mount Shalzonze - a large stone peak located in the middle of a murky lake just north of the King’s Castle. Led by the Amulet of Fortune, the Brotherhood of Peace chose this site to make their headquarters.
The City of Kablinth - a vast port city located in Western Purthia along the Sea of Cartonch. Under the control of a wizard and his pirates, the Brotherhood finds more than a match here.
The Village of Norgal - desolate, depressed village just west of the Land of Ood. An area which has been overrun by evil, some of the seediest characters in all of Purthia have migrated to the village’s central focus - an eerie tavern with an extremely irritable bartender serving as its proprietor.
The City of Chadiech - perhaps the grandest city in all of Purthia. Located to the south of the Desert of Nanakirk, this proud, noble city, which has long been the treasure of the land, has recently fallen into a state of fear - its citizens driven to near panic by the unfettered chaos which is plaguing the land.
The Southern Woods - a dense forest stretching across much of Southern Purthia. Full of darkness, both literally and figuratively, the Brotherhood of Peace finds its greatest challenge here - a challenge which tries their very moral code.
